Research

At the intersection of
clinical medicine
and research.

Dr. Bhaduri's academic and clinical research interests lie at the interface of endocrinology, metabolism, lipidology and technology-driven healthcare.

Six interlocking lines of enquiry

Focus areas

These are not separate projects. They describe one question approached from several angles: how metabolic disease damages organs over time, and what can be done earlier.

Metabolic risk Cardio-renal Incretins AI & digital MASLD Women's health Translational
  • Cardio-renal-metabolic interrelationships

In type 2 diabetes and obesity — how glycaemic, cardiac and renal decline drive one another, and where intervention interrupts the sequence.

  • GLP-1 receptor agonists & dual incretin therapies

Clinical application in diabetes and obesity management, including effects that extend beyond glycaemia and weight.

  • Artificial intelligence & digital health tools

Optimising diabetes care and clinical decision support, and the regulatory and ethical questions that come with mobile health applications.

  • MASLD

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and its intersection with diabetes, including mechanistic work on the mitochondrial-autophagy axis and gut microbiota-derived metabolites.

  • Endocrine aspects of obesity & women's health

Including reproductive and metabolic outcomes, and differential treatment response.

  • Translational & outcomes research

Enhancing personalised management of diabetes and endocrine disorders in the Indian context.

Method

Published work spans systematic reviews and meta-analyses, observational studies, mechanistic review and consensus statements.

01

Systematic reviews & meta-analyses

Pooled analyses on semaglutide and depression risk, empagliflozin in MASLD, and hypovitaminosis D among patients with diabetes in India.

02

Observational studies

Including a 12-month study of saroglitazar in patients with type 2 diabetes, MASLD and Stage 3 chronic kidney disease.

03

Mechanistic review

The mitochondrial-autophagy axis in MASLD, and gut microbiota-derived metabolites in disease progression.

04

Consensus & position statements

Consensus group member for the India-specific obesity consensus, testosterone replacement in diabetes, and mobile health applications for type 2 diabetes remission.
